At Sew4u we have had the pleasure over the years to take a woman's wedding gown and restyle it for their daughter to wear. Many women have had their gowns well preserved, enabling us to make it "new" for their daughter. Usually this involves some sort of new design for the gown. Often we change the neckline and redesign orremove the sleeves. Some brides want the gown to be a shorter length or they do not want the train that their mom had.
One bride wanted to use only the bodice of her mom's gown. We were able to size it to fit her perfectly. She had a "western" themed wedding and wore the corset with a western styled skirt and boots.
Another way to use a mother's gown is to create a going away dress from its components. We can reuse lace, add new fabric, and make a something new out of something that is already treasured.
We would love to look at the design possibilities with you! If you are engaged and your mom still has her dress, give us a call to set up an appointment to see what new gown we can make for you.
You will have the "something old" and the "something new" covered as you prepare to walk down the aisle!
