As the cold weather is upon us, it is time to pull out our favorite sweaters. There are some basic care tips that will help keep that favorite sweater around for a long time.
- Fold your sweaters. Never hang your sweaters. This will cause them to be misshapen.
- Repair the sweater quickly. If you find a hole, repair it immediately to prevent the hole from getting larger.
- Wash most sweaters by hand. (Unless the instructions tell you to machine wash it, don't!) Use a gentle soap solution to wash woolen sweaters. When washing a sweater, turn it inside out. Don't wring it out; this can cause it to lose its shape. Roll it in a towel or let it drip dry.
- Remove pills from your sweaters. Purchase a hand-held depiller or a small electric shaver.
- Wash any sweater you put away for storage. This will help prevent moth holes.
